Pastor Jay Denne has been the pastor of St. Luke since May, 2012. He grew up on a farm in southwest Iowa, near Griswold, before going off to Iowa State University and the University of Iowa Law School.

After practicing law for over a decade in Sioux City, Pastor Denne felt the call to ministry, and after several years of part-time study at Luther Seminary and Wartburg Seminary, he was ordained in December 2010. He continues to maintain his law practice in Sioux City in addition to his calling to serve St. Luke. Also, he has been active in a variety of ministries throughout the Church, including his current service as the Treasurer of the Western Iowa Synod.

Pastor Denne is also active in social media, including Facebook and Twitter, where he has his own page (@PastorJayDenne) and a page where he "tweets" daily prayers to over 5,000 followers at "The Virtual Abbey (@Virtual_Abbey). His blog, "The Benedictine Lutheran" is a place where he explores his interest in a spirituality shaped by daily prayer and the liturgy.

He is married to Jenny, who is a Special Education teacher in the Sioux City schools, and they have three children, Jason, Jonathan, and Jami.
